How to use the site

Navigating around the site
There are a range of information links on the left hand side of the screen plus tabs at the top provdiding information about the site. Clicking on a link will take you to the relevant section of this site or to an external site. Users of talking browsers and other assistive technology should be able to navigate the site without problem providing they are using the latest version of their chosen browser.

Browsers and screen resolution
The site is best viewed at a minimum screen resolution of 800x600 pixels using a level 5 browser or above, for example, Internet Explorer 5 or Netscape Navigator 6.

Below are links to web sites where you can find a browser suitable for your needs. Most software companies provide notes about how to install their browsers and it's a good idea to read these before downloading and installing the software.

The most common browsers for both Mac and PC can be downloaded free from either Microsoft or Netscape.

Other PC browsers are also available as shareware or freeware. These include Opera, Mozilla and NetCaptor.

Accessibility
To make the site useable for a wide range of people we have followed internationally recognised guidelines on accessibility. The guidelines, issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), have been implemented on this site to priority one. This means that the site should be generally more accessible for everyone, and particularly so for people with disabilities or those who use assistive technology.

Please tell us if you have problems with, or comments about, this site's accessibility. Either e-mail your comments to the Web Designer or use the feedback form.

Technical errors
If you come across technical errors (error messages, missing or broken graphics, broken links, etc) please report them to the Project Manager or use the feedback form.

When reporting technical errors, try to give as much information as you can. This will help the Web Developer to track down, replicate, and then correct the error. Your e-mail should include the following details:

  • the date and time you discovered the error
  • the nature of the error and the text of any error message
